Flirting With Love In A Cheyenne Burial Ground

by R. Gerry Fabian

You claim lightning as your sister.
Thunder roils between your legs.
At night, you ululate with mountain wolves
and then sleep in deer thickets by day.
You swim currents
where even beavers seek lower passage.
Red coated vixens teach you their stalk.
Vast grasslands thrill
at your footfall crossing,
and then,
you fall in love
with me.
