The Endemically Entitled EpiPen
by Colin James
Like a shadow from some goddam dream,
we watched a black plastic bag
float in towards the shore
reach the sand deterrent rock.
The guards were asleep or engaged
so I could roll it up swinging
carry as if uninitialized
to our red tinted rental car.
My, you were useful
even checked the dates with candor
against a list by flashlight.
We drove away then parked behind
a productive clinic apparent in
the forthcoming small print of day.
